I visited Machalilla National Park in Ecuador a few days ago. The park was only around 20 minutes away from Puerto López by bus.
It was free to enter and was full of birds, insects and 3 beautiful beaches. What you can’t see in the video is just how hot it was. It was the first time in a few times I got badly burned. I’m not a huge fan of sitting out in the sun and I always put lots of lotion on.
I swam at each of the three beaches and didn’t put lotion on right afterwards, so it must have washed off. Unfortunately, I didn’t realise this until it was too late. It reminded me why I don’t like sitting in the sun too much.

It was hard to hear what you were saying once you got down to the beach, as the sound of the waves was too loud, but otherwise a fine video.
It is my kind of place with nothing to do but swim, hike, and (carefully) sit out in the sun. You do look a tad red in the video.

If possible, try to find waterproof lotion. It still needs to be applied again after swimming, but at least it will give you a fighting chance.
I have similar skin tone as yours, so I can feel your pain.

Yeah I felt silly that I didn’t put on lotion right away. The sun burned me quickly. I re-applied sun cream about 30 minutes after swimming but that was all the time that was needed to get burned.
Thankfully I’m now back in the Andes where it’s cooler.

Cool video, love the nature around there, how’s the water, is it clear and good for snorkelling? Last part of the video, as you’ve probably noticed, is a bit to listen to what you’re saying due to the sound of waves, similar to the Iguazu falls video. Guess the camera tends to pick up those sounds really well. Not sure if you could reduce them in post processing.
Yeah in the last part the sound wasn’t great because of the waves. I’ve been very lazy with editing…as in, I’ve not done it haha.
The water was very clear. We didn’t do any snorkelling but it looked like it was perfect for it.
