I didn’t realise that those prices are only for the initial sign up period; however 36 months is a long time to be signed up for at that rate. Few people stick with the same hosting plan and the same hosting company for that length of time.

Even at that price, it is still a great offer for managed WordPress hosting.

I think you make some great points – paying for great service can justify higher prices, but only if you truly experience the service as advertised.

One thing though, as for SiteGround, the prices you listed only apply to the initial period you sign-up for (12, 24, 36 months) after that you pay the regular monthly price which for the GoGeeky plan is €23,95 instead of €11,95. Which still doesn’t come anywhere near the other options you mentioned – but hey :-)

Seems like I found my new host – any last thoughts?

Synthesis and WP Engine are essentially selling basic VPS packages that normally cost $15-$20 and charging $99 for it. You could argue that the additional money goes to support, though I did not have a positive experience in that regard. I’ve found support in more affordable hosting companies to be good.

Compared to cable TV and mobile phone services it’s not overpriced, but you seem to have uncovered a gem in SiteGround. They appear to offer very good value and they’ll be on my short list if my hosting ever goes sour.
