The WordPress admin area got a refresh a few years ago with a smoother interface, however it is starting to look a little dated. Australian developer George Kordas is looking to address this issue with his reimagination of the WordPress admin area.
His concept looks amazing. You might not share my view that the WordPress admin area looks dated, though after seeing George’s concept, I am sure you will. It truly is the way that WordPress should be taking their platform.

At the moment the design is still just a concept, however George has been approached many developers so it may not be long before his vision is a reality.
Thanks,
Kevin
Thanks for the kind words dalibu :)
As a blogger, the main thing I want to see a replacement button. There are many occasions when I upload an image and I need to replace it later. This can happen for a number of reasons: I have improved the photo, added a caption or simply uploaded the wrong photo by accident.
Currently, you need to delete the image and then upload the new one. I’d like the option of simply replacing an image and keeping things such as the alt tag and linked URL to remain.
With regards to handling large images, this will partly be due to your host. I don’t have any problem uploading files which are a few megabytes in size. Also, you need to remember that whenever an image is uploaded, WordPress needs to create many thumbnails for it.
Where do I start? I think media handling must improved in these areas: 1) Folders 2) It should look and work just like a cloud service – access just like Dropbox – or Dropbox should be used in place of Media 3) Better handling of large images – e.g. Uploading a 5 megapixel image from a cell phone shouldn’t cause a site to slow down. Kevin – I just found your site today, and it is looking great as well as being full of good tips. I like it a lot.
Where do you think media could be improved?
It does look great. Better media handling must be the priority though!
Wow. Hope this gets implemented soon!
Jaw dropped – that’s all that I want to say :)
